Dr. Henry Cabrera is an Anesthesiologist at South County Hospital in Wakefield, Rhode Island. But when he hangs up his white coat at the end of the day, he heads to the beauty and serenity of Lavender Waves Farm, his home, his hobby, a now a thriving family business. This 14-acre farm has over 4,000 perennial lavender plants that blossom beautifully around a picturesque gazebo at the center of their field. Why lavender? Dr. Cabrera was attracted by its multiple health benefits, including support of low blood pressure, and relief of stress and insomnia. The farm makes oils, lotions and candles from their harvests which they package and sell. This farm is also home to approximately 100 animals including chickens, guinea hens, ducks, geese, a white peacock, unique babydoll sheep, alpacas, and a very alert llama and donkey who keep a protective eye out at all times. There is also a working beehive that produces the foundation for a delicious lavender honey. Mini, a loveable, spotted Great Dane, roams the grounds and is a treasured part of the experience for all visitors.
